Research Infrastructures (RIs) are pivotal to transitioning from traditional supply-side innovation policies to a mission-oriented approach, which emphasises collaboration for long-term societal benefits. This workshop seeks to address the barriers that prevent RIs from contributing to mission-oriented innovation collaborations. Participants will explore solutions that enhance institutional capacity, enabling RIs to play a central role in achieving mission-oriented innovation goals.
Event taking place on, Tuesday 26 November 2024 at 14:00 - 15:30 GMT.
Objectives:
1) Identifying barriers: Participants will discuss key challenges faced by RIs in adopting mission-oriented innovation frameworks. Barriers include lack of resources, fragmented collaboration channels, governance complexity, and institutional inertia.
2) Benchmarking best practices: The workshop will present findings from a benchmarking exercise involving document analysis and interviews across selected LAC countries. These insights will help to identify successful strategies for overcoming institutional weaknesses and fostering international collaboration.
3) Imagining collaborative solutions: Focused group discussions will explore solutions to enhance institutional capacity, with an emphasis on anticipatory governance, policy influence, and ecosystem development.
Target Audience:
This workshop, organised in the context of the Horizon Europe ResInfraPlus project, is aimed at policy makers, research infrastructure representatives, and stakeholders in innovation policy from both EU and LAC regions. It is designed to foster collaboration and offer practical tools for enhancing RI capacity.
Expected outcomes:
· A clear understanding of RI institutional barriers to mission-oriented collaboration.
· Actionable strategies and policy recommendations to enhance RI capacity.
· Strengthened networks between RIs and policy stakeholders across EU and LAC.
