Are you looking for a role to develop your cryo-electron microscopy experience within the context of a world-class electron microscopy facility? Do you have a passion for cutting edge biological and biomedical discovery?

Instruct-ERIC Facility Astbury Biostructure Laboratory are looking for a structural biologist who is looking to develop and disseminate their skills and knowledge in cryoEM. You will be working within the Astbury Biostructure laboratory, with state-of-the-art equipment including two recently upgraded Titan Krios microscopes with Falcon 4/selectris and fringe free illumination. Working as part of the facility team, you will work on the development and provision of high-end cryo-electron microscopy for our user community.

Day-to-day you will be involved with the operation of Titan Krios micoscopes, supporting the community to prepare and image frozen-hydrated specimens. You will provide guidance, training and advice in areas covering sample preparation, optimisation, freezing and data acquisiton, as well as analysis and interpretation of EM outcomes. You will contribute your experience to our research programme and running of a cryo-EM facility, where you will have opportunities use both single particle and tomography methods.

You should have a Ph.D. in Structural Molecular Biology and a passion for studying biological and biomedical processes. You should also have experience in the operation of electron miscroscopes, preparation of biological specimens for imaging in electron microscopes; and data processing of structural biology data. You will work closely, interactively and collaboratively with the facility team as well as the wider user community, and so excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
