Developing new strategies for efficient production of viral envelop proteins for vaccinology and expression of membrane proteins in optimized insect cell lines.
Project description:
The department Structure and Function of Proteins, research group Recombinant Protein Expression, are looking for a new PhD candidate. As part of the EU-funded Project Instruct-Ultra, the group focuses on the development of a new method for high throughput expression of the challenging production of membrane proteins and viral envelope proteins.
The main focus of the research group is to produce ample amounts of high-quality protein samples for structural and functional analysis in the scope of bacterial infection, viral infection and drug-target research. Biophysical quality of the proteins, protein-protein interactions as well as biochemical activity will be investigated within this project.

Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field of the life sciences
Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
Ability to work independently and as part of an international team
Practical experience in cell culture techniques
