Postdoctoral Scientist in Structural Biology
Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine
University of Oxford
University Grade 7: £29,541 – £36,298 p.a.
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to discover and develop inhibitors of oncogenic proteins for cancer treatment. The post is available for 3 years, funded by the Medical Research Council.
The aim of the work is to discover small-molecule drugs that inhibit protein-protein interactions involving transcription factor multi-protein complexes. The approach will involve novels strategies using single domain antibody fragments and peptides as tools for the identification of drug-like molecules for hit to lead development and assay development for characterization and target validation.
The programme involves structural determination of protein complexes together with screening and characterization of small molecule inhibitors of protein-protein interactions. In particular, the project will use the structure of single antibody domains as templates for drug lead development.
Candidates must have a PhD in structural biology, experience with recombinant protein production purification, with solving structures using X-ray diffraction and analyzing protein interactions using biophysical techniques. Experience with mammalian and yeast culture would be an advantage
