As part of its ongoing collaboration with Latin America in the context of the EU-LAC ResInfra project, Instruct-ERIC opened a staff exchange call to allow researchers from Latin American institutions to visit European facilities.
One of these visits was from the University of Sao Paulo to Utrecht University, at the Bijvoet Center. Roberto Salinas visited the Utrecht facility in August 2022, on a 6-month visit to work alongside Hugo van Ingen on the Type IV Secretion System (T4SS) of the phytopathogen Xanthomonas citri.
The aim was to make use of the high resolution Bruker NMR machinery, but to also formulate and develop ideas on NMR spectroscopy alongside experts across Europe, to build connections and networks, and to advance bi-regional collaboration between Latin America and Europe. Watch the interview with Roberto here.
“It’s a good opportunity because I can speak to Hugo, and we are in a big centre in Europe so you also get in touch with other people who are also doing interesting and different things in NMR”
The Bijvoet Center is home to a huge range of structural biology techniques, and through Instruct-ERIC users can apply to access the wide variety of NMR machines, offering up to 1,200MHz of resolution. Find out more about Utrecht University here.
