Instruct Instruct PartnerRegistration to the Instruct-ERIC course on AF4 and SEC-MALS methods and their utilisation in cryo-EM sample preparation is now open. The course is organised in collaboration with Wyatt Technology Europe.
The course is being run by the University of Helsinki, part of Instruct-FI.
Time: May 19-23, 2025 (5 days)
Venue: Viikki Campus, University of Helsinki, Finland at the facilities of Instruct Centre Finland Helsinki.
Target group: MSc / PhD students, early career researchers, and PIs

The course is a hands-on course combining theory and experiments. The course introduces size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and asymmetrical flow field flow fractionation (AF4) coupled with light scattering (LS) as a tool to analyse samples intended for structure determination. The focus will be on optimisation of samples for cryo-EM. Cryo-EM grid preparation and preliminary sample screening will be performed in the course. Participants can potentially work on their own samples (see more information on our course web page, link below).
A maximum of 12 participants will be selected to the hands-on-course.
There is no registration fee.
Successful candidates will be notified by 25 March at the latest.
