A new facilitated session of the MOOC “Diagnosing Rare Diseases: from the Clinic to Research and back”, will be running from 14 September to 30 October 2026.
The course is completely free of charge, 100% online, and open to anyone interested in learning more about the diagnosis of rare diseases.
During this facilitated session, experts and mentors will be available online to answer participants’ questions, share their expertise, and encourage discussions on the topics explored throughout the course.
Developed within the European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD), the MOOC was co-created by ERN ITHACA, ERN GENTURIS, EURORDIS, and the Fondation Maladies Rares.
The course explores key aspects of rare disease diagnosis, including:
- diagnostic pathways and available genetic testing approaches;
- differences in patient journeys and access to diagnosis;
- technological advances in diagnostic research;
- the importance of collaboration and data sharing;
- the impact of receiving – or not receiving – a diagnosis on patients and families;
- the contribution of physiopathological and social science approaches to rare disease diagnostics.
