Posts are available for 3 years with an expected start date of 1 August 2014.

CooperaTB offers a unique and exciting opportunity to participate in a European project, designed to train the next generation of drug discovery scientists through early exposure to research at the intersections of academia with industry and of chemistry with biology.

CooperaTB seeks to appoint in total 4 highly motivated Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) on a new, highly innovative 3-year PhD programme. We will train 2 biochemists/biologists and 2 chemists in tuberculosis (TB) drug discovery. The appointed ESRs will join an interdisciplinary research team, which collectively has a strong background in Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Structural Biology.

You should have a first degree in chemistry, biological sciences, biochemistry, structural biology or a related discipline. You should also have demonstrable skills in areas such as recombinant protein expression and purification, the development of biochemical and biophysical enzyme assays, structural biology, synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry. Experience with handling mycobacteria or related bacteria, such as Nocardia or Corynebacteria would be advantageous.

At the time of appointment applicants must confirm and be prepared to provide evidence that they meet the Marie Curie Eligibility criteria.
